A new opportunity has become available for a full time Land Manager to join our growing property development company based in Penrith, Cumbria. The position is suited to a detail orientated, motivated and organised individual who wishes to progress their career with a company who has exciting plans for growth.
The ideal candidate will identify suitable land opportunities, assist with land acquisition, manage the planning process, and support pre-construction project management, working with the technical team and external project professionals, and reporting directly to the company’s Managing Director.
While experience in a similar role would be preferred it is not essential and training will be provided to a suitable candidate who is able to demonstrate a well-rounded skillset and willingness to learn.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Source new land opportunities and off market deals
- Establish relationships with local authorities, land agents, landowners, and other developers
- Develop and maintain a sound knowledge of the local planning system
- Assist with land appraisals, viability studies and optimising site layouts
- Develop and maintain a sound understanding of technical aspects
- Assist with formulating offers and negotiating land purchases
- Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of legal contracts and processes
- Assist with progressing land purchases through to legal completion
- Manage planning consultants during the planning application process
- Ensure all external consultants meet with the company’s objectives and local regulations
- Assist with organising professional investigations and reports
- Review project documents for accuracy and completeness
- Provide planning updates at team project meetings
- Manage land issues on site post land purchase
- Conduct site visits as required
Experience and Skills
- Experience working in construction, land acquisition or planning
- Experience in project management
- Knowledge of local planning legislation
- Knowledge of legal processes relating to land acquisition
- Understanding of technical aspects
- Wide contact base
- Full UK driving license
Hours and Salary
- Job type: full time, permanent
- Hours: Monday to Friday, approximately 40 hours per week
- From £30,000 per annum, dependant on experience
- Salary negotiable dependant on skills and experience
