Happy New Year 2019

Happy New Year. 2019 already, the last 12 months have gone so fast I can’t believe we’re into another year with several new projects on the horizon and some others finishing up, but before I talk about what’s new, let’s take a look back at 2018.

We’ve been really busy at Willan Homes and Developments and last year saw us finish off the 9 house courtyard development that was originally a working woodyard in Kings Meaburn. The selection of homes at this location offered something for everyone, from the lovely 2 x 3 bed affordable homes built in red sandstone to the large detached Larch House crowning the entrance to Woodyard Place. The majority of buyers for this site were local, in fact, quite a few of them went to primary school with my son Jonathan and with families of their own now, they want to share their childhood adventures with their own children.

Our second site for 2018 was Ullesby Gardens at Ousby. This 6 home site included 4 x 3 bed bungalows and a pair of 3 bed semi detached houses of which one was affordable but built to the same exacting standards as the other houses on the site. We had no idea Ousby was so popular and this site sold out in double quick time prompting us to buy the field next door where we are now under construction of 4 x 3 bed detached bungalows with garages and 2 x 4 bed detached houses, but with only one bungalow left to sell Phase II is proving to be as popular as Phase I.

Our 3rd site for 2018 is a corker. Primrose Hill at Culgaith is a small private residential development of 4 x 4 bed detached houses with stunning views no matter what side of the house you’re looking out. The high standard of finish includes a large open plan living/kitchen/dining/family room with a back wall of glass bi-fold doors allowing you to open up the house right out into the garden. The family bathroom provides a beautiful stand alone soaking tub and with not one but two en- suites these family homes really do cater for everyone.

2019 has dawned and we are preparing our new site at Melmerby consisting of 5 x 4 bed detached houses. Melmerby is a lovely traditional Cumbrian village with plenty of amenities including a church, a pub and a cafe with a shop amongst the attractions. This fell side village is only 3 miles from Langwathby offering a great primary school and a local railway station providing great commuter links to many parts of the country. Being constructed in brick and stone these attractively laid out homes are sure to make a winning location for any family looking to enjoy life in the beautiful Cumbrian countryside.

Talking of great locations another new site will be starting up shortly in the popular village of Lazonby providing four different house styles all with great flow and space, garages and gardens. The computer generated images are being likened to a Lakeland village and certainly offer some very stylish homes. Being located only

8 miles from Penrith and 18 miles from Carlisle the location couldn’t be better. With lots of facilities including two watering holes, a school, church, large popular shop and a railway station which forms part of the very scenic Carlisle to Settle train journey.
